To the Pollins family, I send my deepest condolences.
Tamika was a power-house. She was the big sister that I never had. We met in Jersey at an open house that I was hosting and as soon as we learned that we were both from Philly, we latched on to each other and never let go. I also became her designated make up artist and I was HONORED that she thought so highly of me, and my skills and counted on them for her most important moments - which were plentiful. I will never forget our fights about touching her eyes and how we’d always end up sharing gut-wrenching laughs from our exchanges.
Tamika reminded me, consistently, that I am more valuable than I realize. She never stayed away for long, and neither did I - that’s how I knew that something wasn’t right after I sent numerous phone calls and texts that resulted in no response, sadly. She always made time for me and kept her promises. She penetrated my soul in the brief 3 years that I got to share her life with her and for that, I am grateful.
Tamika’s loss is devastating and unbelievable. I truly can’t understand…why so soon..? Why Tamika? Her legacy will undoubtedly live on.

Dr. Pollins was and is truly an exceptional person, friend, and colleague. She had the ability to change hearts and minds just by walking into a room. Her passion for others is unmeasurable and her presence is deeply missed. Thank you, Tamika, for all of the incredible work you contributed, especially in the field of DEI. The teachers and students that had the honor to meet you are forever impacted. I know I will fondly think of you always.

Dr. Pollins and I became friends through art. She was always thinking of ways to share her love of art with others and in doing that she lifted me up. She supported me as an artist by purchasing several of my pieces and having a show for me last year. I was invited by her to an artist and residence several times at her schools. But she was more than that to me she was a friend I loved her like a sister and I’m so glad I got to gift her a piece that o had done that she loved. I will miss her dearly ❤️

"I am so proud of you. I'm so honored the Lord has allowed me to meet you and witness your journey!" This was one of the last text messages I sent to you. This picture is of us right before I had to speak. I was nervous and unsure of myself. You walked into the room, spoke a word to me, took a picture with me, and released me to shine.
I still cannot believe that I can't text you and ask a million questions. I can't reach out and get advice. I can't attend an event you created. I can't join you on a platform. I can't come to you and receive the words of encouragement I need to keep going. I just CAN'T! Which hurts like crazy but I know your legacy lives on through the lives you touched and that makes my soul glad.
I know you loved God! I believe you are resting with Him now. I will see you again, Tamika. I'm going to miss you but I have peace in knowing whose you are and where you are.
I am praying for your family and calling out their name for the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. I love you beyond Alpha and I will carry you everywhere I go.
Love,
Tynetta (T-Nice)

Dr Tamika Pollins was a beautiful person, inside and out. I remember how happy she was when she became a member of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc., Alpha Chapter. As the Teach A Rama chairperson, Soror Tamika introduced many new and innovative concepts and ideas for the educators to discuss, take part in, and implement. One major topic was on the health and safety of teachers. Another was on human trafficking.
Dr Pollins always had a beautiful smile and a positive attitude; qualities I will miss tremendously.
It is my belief that Everything happens for a reason, but no matter what the challenge may be we must remember that ‘God is always with us’.
My sincere condolences are extended to her family, colleagues and friends.

My dear friend and Soror. What an incredible impact you made on me. Thank you for the fun times at concerts and dinners with Donna and T-Nice ( and at Sorority meetings! LOL!) Thank you Tamika for including me in your events to uplift and empower women. I will be forever grateful for your wisdom you shared and how candid you were. You said what you meant and you meant what you said. In my mind you were gone too soon, but I guess your work was done. I love you Sis! Until then.....

My sincerest prayers go out to the family of Dr. Pollins. I am heartbroken and devastated by her untimely passing. Dr. Pollins and I became professionally acquainted only a few short years ago, and soon became friends. While our time was short, our sisterhood was strong. Dr. Pollins was the kind of person who infused humor in every conversation whether it was business or casual. After a long day at work, we would often connect on the phone or send a simple text to say "My dinner tonight will be lemon pepper wings, all flats, fried hard!" That was our code for "It was a rough day." Thank you Dr. Pollins for all that you brought to my life as a friend, and all that you gave to the NFHS as a professional consultant. We will miss your spirit and your smile. Rest well my dear sister.

The unfortunate news of the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Dr. Tamika A. Pollins truly rocked our community. Dr. Pollins was a cherished member of our West Orange family, and her untimely loss leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In August 2021, Dr. Pollins joined the West Orange Public School district as the Director of Assessment, Accountability, and Intervention. In her role, she made invaluable contributions to our district, working tirelessly to improve the educational experience for our students and our faculty. Dr. Pollins' dedication to our mission and her unwavering commitment to success made her an indispensable member of our team.
Her recent role leading our Human Resources department, while painfully brief, was equally impactful. Dr. Pollins was not only a talented educator but also an incredible person, known for her sweetness, support, and her ability to inspire those around her. She touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact that will be remembered with fondness and gratitude.
We extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to Dr. Pollins' family during this difficult time. West Orange was most fortunate to experience her sunshine, and it was my privilege to work alongside her. We will always remember and honor the amazing person that she was.
We will miss Dr. Tamika A. Pollins greatly, and her legacy will continue to inspire us as we carry forward her commitment to high standards in education and her excellence in humanity.
Sincerely,
Hayden Moore, Superintendent of Schools

To My Alpha Soror, Dr Tamika Pollins:
I truly am still in disbelief. You were a gem to the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc., Alpha Chapter. You were a faithful Teach-a-Rama Chair, for six years, who always sought to lift up sorors, youth, and the community at large. I was looking forward to your Women's Day of Empowerment event on November 4, 2023, and I appreciated how you were going out of your way to support our Xinos (high school aged young ladies) and make the event relevant for them.
You were a blessing to everyone you met. You always had a smile on your face. I am going to miss our Zoom meetings where we would secretly message each other and you would tell me you were ready for your picture! I am going to miss taking pictures of you at events because you were always ready for my camera. I am also going to miss calling you and you saying, "Hello, Rhonda Baskerville." Your memory will forever hold a place in the hearts of your Alpha Chapter sorors. We loved and appreciated you! Until we meet again.

Good morning,
My name is Francenia Britton. I am the President of The National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa Incorporated, Alpha Chapter. To the Family we extend our heartfelt sympathy.
When I was asked to speak today, I thought to myself what I should say about our friend, and our Soror, who was an all around exceptional person. Dr. Tamika Pollins, or Soror Pollins or just Tamika was extraordinary. We all knew she had an infectious smile and an extroverted personality, but she also like to be involved with educational and community events. Tamika stayed busy. She was a part of that Good Trouble.
Tamika never came to a meeting upset or angry. Whatever committee she was asked to work on or lead she did with pleasantry. Rather she was working on Teach-A-Rama, which helped elevate the teaching skills for all, or a piece on Human Trafficking, collaborating with another organization, or inviting her Sorors to an art show she was hosting she did it with a smile. Tamika did everything first class. Yes, she did have fun. Tamika gave a Comedy Cabaret as a fundraiser for the sorority, and we all had a great time.
The educational field will miss Dr. Tamika Pollins as well as the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa Inc., Alpha Chapter. Tamika, thank you for your kind personality and infectious smile. Where do we go from here? We continue where she left off.
Thank God for the small beginnings (Zechariah 4:10). Be trustworthy and faithful with the little and you will be the same way with much. (Matthew 25:23). Then, our heavenly father will say well done. Dr. Tamika Ann Pollins Well Done.,

Words will never be able to express how I feel about the untimely passing of my precious and dear friend, Tamika. She was my sister, advisor and motivator since our first week at Lincoln University. No matter how far we lived apart nor the days that went past without us talking due to our busy lives, we would always make time for one another on our birthdays and Christmas. You will be greatly missed here on earth, but you will forever be in my heart. I am looking forward to the day that we will once again be able to talk, laugh and joke. My prayers are with your mother, father and siblings.

Please accept my sincere condolences on her passing. I got to know Tamika when she joined our Plainfield-Brunswick Branch of National Association of University Women. I bonded with her through this group of women. We shared some quality time over a few meals and coffee. Tamika had so much promise and I expected to see her make her mark on many promising projects and causes. I thank God for allowing me to get to know her, if only for a short time.

It's tough to meet new friends as you age, but I never thought I'd cross paths with a friend like Dr. Tamika Pollins at a diversity workshop. She was a joy to be around from the moment we met. We'd often meet up for lunch to talk about our struggles and successes. A few times a year, we'd gather with other Black women educators to share our challenges, and we'd text each other all the time. As Black educational leaders, we were each other's source of strength and support. I could always count on Tamika to give me positive advice, encouragement, and support. She was a fantastic cheerleader. She encouraged me to start my own consulting company. She always had something positive and genuine to say, and it was much appreciated. I'll deeply miss Dr. Tamika Pollins and our conversations . I'll also miss her funny Instagram messages and her ability to lighten the mood in even the most difficult circumstances. You'll be missed, sister. I'm so grateful to have known you.
